Congratulations to the 5 new recruits who graduated from the Bergen County Auxiliary Police Academy.
The Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police participated in the Borough of Fair
Lawn's Memorial Day Parade. Auxiliary Officers performed traffic, crowd
control and security, and participated in the parade as well. We give
our deepest honor to those Soldiers who gave their lives for our
freedom.

On August 19th, the Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police held a
ceremony during the Borough's Council Meeting. The evening started off
with the official swearing in of the officers who recently graduated
from the Bergen County Police Academy. Joseph Sproviero, Steven Milnes,
Thomas Spear and Daniel Fontana were sworn in as Auxiliary Police
Officers by Deputy Mayor Joseph Tedeschi. William Cummings, who is also a
recent graduate, was unable to attend the ceremony.
During the evening, numerous officers were promoted:
Lieutenant Frank Bello was promoted to Captain
Sergeant Stuart Alpart was promoted to Lieutenant
Patrol Officer Paul D. Fucci was promoted to Sergeant
Patrol Officer James Magarelli was promoted to Sergeant
Also promoted, but unable to attend the ceremony, was Sergeant Andrew Flax to the rank of Lieutenant.
The highlight of the evening was the honoring of Lieutenant Kenneth
Pfeifer for volunteering over 40 years with the organization. Lt
Pfeifer, a lifetime resident of Fair Lawn, joined the organization in
1965. Three years later he joined Fair Lawn Fire Company 3,
where he is still an active member. Lt Pfeifer received a Proclamation
from the Mayor and Council announcing August 19th, 2008 as "Lieutenant Kenneth Pfeifer Day"
in the Borough of Fair Lawn. Lt Pfeifer also received a Lifetime Member
plaque from Chief Magarelli. Celebrating the evening with Lt Pfeifer
was his wife of almost 50 years, Ginger, and many of their children and
grandchildren.
Congratulations to everyone on a well deserved evening!

The Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police participated in the borough's National Night Out Against Crime
on August 6th. The Auxiliary Police's participation was headed by
Auxiliary Police Community Policing Officer Paul Fucci. National Night
Out is held annually on the same evening across the country. It's
purpose is for families, friends and neighbors to step out of their
homes and get together to take a stand against crime. The borough held
their event at Memorial Park in conjunction with their annual Beach
Party, which included live music, and free hot dogs, soda and Rita's Ice. Many of the borough's emergency service, along with END DWI and Fair Lawn's Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention
spoke with and educated residents about how they can participate in
crime prevention. The Auxiliary Police passed out information on Preventing Teens from Smoking and internet safety. The organization also set up recruiting information for the next academy class.

Five officers were certified as Bicycle Officers after under going a strenuous 32 Hours course presented by the International Police Mountain Bike Association.
The program surfaced under the initiative of Sergeant Andrew Flax. The
special uniforms and safety equipment were purchased at each officers
own expense. The bicycles will be used during patrol, special events and
for community relations. The other officer who participated in the
training were: Roi Klipper, Steven Milnes, Thomas Spear and Daniel
Fontana.

The Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police recently participated in the Fair Lawn Police Department's Touch a Truck Day.
For a $5.00 donation, children were able to touch, sit and "play" in
their favorite type of vehicle. Vehicle's were on hand from various
emergency services, public works ,construction firms, U.S. Military, and
general transportation contractors. Even "Batman" made an appearance
with his supercharged Batmobile. The event raised over $3,000. All
proceeds went towards the New Jersey Special Olympics.

The Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police would like to congratulate
their newest recruits from graduating the Auxiliary Police Academy on
4/28/08. Classes were held at the Bergen County Public Safety Institute
in Mahwah, New Jersey. On behalf of Chief Magarelli and the entire
organization, we welcome our new members and wish them the best of luck.

congratulate Igor Minevich on his new employment with the New Jersey
Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer. Good Luck!

Chief Magarelli and Director Metzler met with Brooke Webster, President of the Reserve Police Officers Association,
in New York City on November 19th. The RPOA donated 3 bulletproof
vests, 3 traffic safety vests, 4 flashlights, 1 first aid kit and an
emergency response guide book. Thanks Brooke and the RPOA... Your
donations will be a great help and are very much appreciated!

The Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police would like to take this time
to thank Sgt Tim Sullivan for the time and effort he gave to our
organization and to the Borough of Fair Lawn. He is also the founder and
creator if this website. Unfortunately, for various reasons he will
be resigning from the organization. He will be missed by all. We would
like to wish him and his family the best in their future. Thanks Tim!
